The film "Sultana" by Koba Productions

The Civil War was over. Prisoners of War were being sent home. Union Troops imprisoned at Andersonville, Georgia, and Cahaba, Alabama, were mustered aboard the Sultana, a Mississippi side-wheeler that was past her prime. Built to accommodate 370, the ship was packed with 2,400 civilians and soldiers. Just north of Memphis, on April 27, 1865, the boiler exploded - leaving 1,800 to a fiery death and a watery grave (more that on the Titanic). Corruption and timing (Lincoln was assassinated just two weeks before) condemned the Sultana - the greatest maritime disaster in American history - to obscurity.
